Since the turn of the century, the Raiders franchise has suffered through some rough times, and here are the five biggest player disappointments.
For decades, the Raiders have found themselves on the wrong side of history when it came to NFL Drafts, player acquisitions, and overall production in general. Not since the days of the late 1990’s and early 2000’s have we seen multiple years of a product on the field that fans were eager for and looked forward to.
Jon Gruden’s first tenure with the franchise brought a lot of winning, and now that he’s back for a second round, he and Mike Mayock seem to be constructing a team that will hopefully give fans that excitement each year once again, albeit it being in Las Vegas instead of Oakland.
But to say that the Raiders have had their share of disappointing moments and situations in that almost two decades of football would be an understatement. Whether you’d like to go back to the rule that must not be named, or trading your head coach and then losing to him in the Super Bowl, disappointment and misfortune has plagued them dearly since 2000.
I’m going to chronicle how the Raiders have suffered that disappointment on the player side of history. Acquisitions and draft picks who have single-handedly sparked a fan base’s excitement, while inevitably letting them down in regards to the lofty expectations that were included.
