Las Vegas Raiders Rookie Roles: Cornerback Amik Robertson

What his role will be as a rookie

As noted, Robertson will slide effortlessly into the slot cornerback position, but he will have to beat out Joyner if he wants to crack the starting lineup. With the uncertainty at cornerback, competition will be fierce, and I see Robertson as a Day 1 slot corner.

He has the speed to keep up with faster receivers and the toughness to handle bigger tight ends. With the skills he possesses, the Raiders coaching staff will find a way to get him on the field immediately.

I would not be shocked if Robertson also ended up taking reps at safety when the 2020 season rolls around. He is an extremely versatile player and he should be used in a variety of packages and positions.

With the selections of Henry Ruggs III and Arnette, I believe there needs to be more excitement over the selection of Robertson. He exemplifies what it means to be a Raider, and will give fans nostalgia from his hard-nosed play.
