The Las Vegas Raiders drafted cornerback Amik Robertson with their final pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and here is how he fits in.

Heading into the 2020 offseason, the Raiders franchise knew they needed help at the cornerback position, and they double-dipped in the 2020 NFL Draft. In the first round, the team selected Ohio State’s Damon Arnette, before selecting Amik Robertson from Louisiana Tech with the last of seven selections.

Here is a full breakdown of Robertson’s college career, where and why he was drafted, and how he fits in as a rookie.

College Career

Amik Robertson may be looked at as undersized, standing at 5-foot 8-inches, but what he lacks in size, he brings in physicality. The corner out of Louisiana Tech consistently dominated at the college level, and his stats prove it.

While playing in a Bulldogs uniform, Robertson amassed 184 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, four sacks, two forced fumbles and 14 interceptions. In fact, three of those interceptions were taken for touchdowns. Excellent ball skills were repeatedly evident on tape along with the bruising ability of his tackling.

Being chosen as a first team All-American and first team All-CUSA is not a small feat, and Robertson will look to bring his decorated career to the Raiders. Along with these awards, Robertson maintained a healthy playing career by appearing in 38 games.

With the rotational nature of the Raiders defensive back room in 2019, Amik can provide some stability.
