Why and where he was drafted
Robertson was picked in the 4th round at selection No. 139, which could easily be viewed as a steal by many. With the accolades Robertson possesses, the size factor seemed to play into his fall. Similar to the 4th round pick of Maxx Crosby, the Raiders may have struck gold once again.
There is no doubt the Raiders selected Robertson for their struggles in the secondary over the last few years. Since the start of last season, the Raiders have traded Gareon Conley, lost Daryl Worley, signed Prince Amukamara and drafted Arnette. Cornerback Trayvon Mullen may be a bright spot, but Lamarcus Joyner had some difficulties adjusting to the new system.
The Raiders will look to immediately plug Robertson in as a slot corner to challenge Joyner, where he excelled in college. At his size he will probably not see the outside corner position, but will be a perfect match for slot receivers and tight ends.
This all combined with the physicality he brings, makes fans reminiscent of former Raider greats. It is clear Jon Gruden is attempting to bring back toughness into the Raiders locker room and Robertson is evidence of this. Along with that, Robertson is also close friends with Johnathan Abram who as we know, is one tough athlete.
