Specialists on the way out?

The Raiders added kicker Daniel Carlson during the 2018 NFL season, and he came in and took the franchise by storm. For nearly two decades, the franchise had the luxury of having Sebastian Janikowski as their kicker, as the fan base saw him become the all-time leading score in team history.

After dominating in 2018, Carlson took a major step back in 2019, and will now be fighting for his job during the summer. While he is likely to retain the role, he is entering a contract year, and another so-so season in the Silver and Black could spell the end to his run with the team.

Joining Carlson in a contract year is long snapper Trent Sieg, who has been a pleasant surprise since cementing his role on the team last summer. He took over for the injured Andrew DePaola during the 2018 campaign, and then beat him out this past summer, so the expectation is he is the long-term option at the position moving forward.
