2020 Las Vegas Raiders 53-man roster projection entering training camp

Quarterbacks (3): Derek Carr, Marcus Mariota, Nathan Peterman

Jon Gruden is one of the few NFL coaches that likes to have three quarterbacks on his 53-man roster and that may be a tribute to his old school roots. Derek Carr comes in as the mostly unquestioned starter, but if he struggles during the team’s tough initial stretch, there may be some questions asked about his starting job.

Carr has more weapons than he has had since 2016, and the Raiders have done just about all they can to put him in a position to succeed in Las Vegas.

Marcus Mariota is the mystery man, as he may end up holding a clipboard for the majority of the season, and coming in for special packages or he could finish the season as the starter if things play out a certain way. Mariota is going to be another veteran leader on this roster and is a well-respected figure all around the league. He gives the Raiders great depth at quarterback for the first time in what feels like forever.

Nathan Peterman is Gruden’s pet project, and will probably have a job with the Raiders as a backup for as long as Gruden is the coach. Why he loves him so much is a mystery but we can safely predict that he will be on the roster come Week 1.
