Raiders most surprising seasons by decade, 1960-2010s

The 2020 season will bring a new decade of Raiders football, and here, we look at one time each decade the team surprised the fan base in a good way.

Throughout the history of the Raiders franchise there have been teams that have exceeded expectations, and those who fell short. Over the course of the last 60 years, we have seen the Raiders hoist three Lombardi Trophies, as well as taking home an AFL championship back in the 1960s.

During that time, there have been numerous Hall of Famers who have put on the Silver and Black, some legendary front office people, and a Commitment to Excellence that is unmatched in NFL circles. In addition, the Raiders have arguably the best fan base in professional sports when you look globally, as Raider Nation stretches from the United States all the way to Australia.

Each decade, the Raiders put together a team that has the chance to win it all, though over the past 18 years, they have been to the playoffs only once. Some teams come out of nowhere to surprise us, while others fall short, but through it all, the love and passion for this team never wanes on the fan base.
