With 49 days remaining until the 2020 season, we continue our countdown of looking at the best Raiders player to wear each jersey number.

With rookies reporting to training camp this week, the season edges closer and closer to becoming a reality. We take a look at the best player to wear the jersey number of the number of days left before the opener on September 13, 2020 against the Carolina Panthers. That game will kick off the new era of Raiders football.

We continue our series with No. 49.

Jamize Olawale  was fan favorite receiving fullback who had some incredible plays in Silver and Black. Originally from the Bay Area, Olawale attened North Texas University before going undrafted in 2012. Olawale caught on with the Raiders after being poached from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad in December of his rookie season. He contributed on special teams before showing off his receiving chops out of the back field.

He signed a 3-year extension in 2015 after proving his worth in both the run and pass game. In total Olawale gained 631 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns in his six seasons as a Raiders fullback.

Carl Weathers wore No. 49 with the Raiders

An Honorable Mention of sorts, Carl Weather only played in eight games as a Raider, but he wore 49 when he did, and he is by far the most famous person in this post. Originally from Louisiana, weather came out West to go to college and was picked up by the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 1970.

Weathers wore number 49 in his first season in Oakland as a reserve linebacker.

Standing at 6’2 220, Weather decided to get into acting, and he took the opportunity in the long NFL offseasons to dabble as an extra while continuing to play football. Eventually it turned out this was the best career choice for him, and Weathers went on to star as Apollo Creed in the Rocky movies, Chubbs Peterson in Happy Gilmore, and Greef Karga in the Mandalorian.

With that said, let us look at the best Raiders player to wear No. 49 all-time.
