Las Vegas Raiders linebacker group dramatically improved for 2020

Solid depth behind the starters

Tanner Muse is not a lock to start at SLB this season, as Nicholas Morrow is familiar with Paul Guenther’s terminology, and has shown himself to be a solid player when given opportunities during his first three years with the Raiders. He could very well win the starting job, especially with what should be a very strange offseason schedule this summer.

The talent does not stop there, as Marquel Lee is a guy who knows Guenther’s terminology as well, and can be counted on to come in and start when needed. The Raiders have a handful of guys at linebacker who would be forced to start and are not starters in recent years, but with the additions to the position group, they can provide solid depth.

The Raiders also have Kyle Wilber still on the team, as well as guys like Justin Phillips, Nick Usher and Ukeme Eligwe who will all attempt to make the roster. UDFA will be listed as a linebacker as he tries to make the team, which should help his chances as the team is loaded at safety this season.

The Raiders look so much better on paper at linebacker this year, and the hope is that it translates over to the real games. Littleton and Kwiatkoski are guys who can flat out get it done at the NFL level, and now that the team has two legitimate starters at the position group, it should have a rippling effect on the rest of the defense.
