DE Clelin Ferrell

From their performances in 2019, and the amount of media coverage they have gotten this offseason, one might think that Maxx Crosby was the player selected fourth overall and Clelin Ferrell was the fourth round pick. While Crosby put up a respectable case for Defensive Rookie of the Year, Ferrell struggled with illness and did not live up to his draft position by any measure.

The Raiders tried to mitigate some of that poor play with explanations that he was asked to play inside more than expected, and that his illness in London sapped him of his weight and his strength. All of that may be true but the clock is ticking on Ferrell proving that he was worthy of being drafted that high by matching the production of the other defensive ends taken at the top of the first round.

We have heard a lot about the strength training program that Ferrell has undergone this offseason, and there is plenty of reasons to be excited about what he can bring to the table in 2019. If he can be the player the team drafted him to be, the Raiders will have an excellent duo of young defensive ends that they can build the rest of the defense on.
