6 players the Las Vegas Raiders cannot afford to see opt out

Trent Brown, Offensive Tackle

Trent Brown is a player who was invaluable to the Raiders offensive line last year, as he anchored the right side of the line, and in 11 games only allowed one sack. Going head to head against Von Miller, the 5th year player didn’t allow a hit or a sack, and allowed only one hurry. In his absence, David Sharpe allowed three sacks in six games, with four times as many hurries and hits Brown had in his 11 games.

Brown is also a player who is an excellent run blocker. He can set the edge and make any defensive end look like a wide receiver out there. With Brown in the lineup, Derek Carr averaged a quarterback rating for just over 101 over the first 11 games, and with Brown out he averaged an 81 while taking more pressures and throwing more interceptions.

Josh Jacobs averaged a full yard and half more per rush when running to Brown rather than Sharpe. Jacobs also averaged a full 25 yards more per game than when Brown was out. Brown is an invaluable player that no other player on the Raiders roster can replace and he is one of the keys for the run and passing game to succeed this season.
