Las Vegas Raiders 2020 Rookie Roles: Wide Receiver Bryan Edwards

Why and where he was drafted

The third round is uniquely situated for NFL teams to draft potential gems and “steals” from other franchises that missed out. It’s safe to say that there is a great likelihood that Las Vegas drafted an immediate impact player and draft day steal in Bryan Edwards. At 6’3 and 215 lbs, Edwards has the size and strength to be a problem for opposing corners.

His efficient production over his four-year career at South Carolina may have warranted him being selected higher, but his untimely injuries were likely a factor in him being available in the third round. A knee injury that required an arthroscopic procedure in his senior year, alongside a fractured foot 21 days before the NFL combine, was likely flags for other NFL franchises on draft day.

However, Bryan Edwards is entering training camp fully healthy, and that bodes well for the franchise that identified the skills he brings to the table and drafted him in the third round. Looking ahead here’s why Edwards can display why he’s a great fit with the Silver and Black.
