Curious case of Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr
Looking ahead to 2020
So here we are, staring down at a unorthodox offseason, and looking ahead to what should be a solid season for the Raiders franchise. While there will be no fans in the stands, they are breaking in a brand new stadium, and the feeling is that they did enough on both sides of the ball to at least be a Wild Card contender in 2020.
Based on statistics, it would appear that the Raiders have the right guy at the helm to lead them to the playoffs, but Carr is at the point where he is only going to be judged by wins. If you took his name off of the statistics, he would likely be a higher-ranked quarterback than the national media ranks him at, but the career record is seriously hurting him at this point.
The bottom line is, the team has done everything to build around him, including finally spending some free agent money on some big-name defensive players. Carr is a high character guy, who is widely respected by the team, and has spent his offseason holding private workouts with his guys, and trying to build up chemistry during this pandemic.

Carr has something to prove this season, and whether you love him, or hate him, you have to be hoping that he plays well in 2020, and the team finally gets back to the playoffs. Marcus Mariota was brought in just in case Carr falters, and he is going to push him this offseason, but based on what we heard from Carr on Tuesday, he needs no motivation going into the team’s first year in the desert.
