List of players who opted out in the AFC West

Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos have been one of the more talked about teams in the AFC this offseason, as many expect quarterback Drew Lock to take a big step forward in 2020. In order to do so, he is going to have to lean on an explosive group of weapons on the outside, two dynamic runners in Phillip Lindsay and Melvin Gordon, and an offensive line that has their issues.

Here is the list of those Broncos who opted out this season.

  • Ja’Wuan James
  • Kyle Peko
  • Andrew Beck

James was going to be the Broncos starting right tackle, and along an offensive line that is already thin, that one is going to hurt. Remember, they have a very young quarterback in Lock, and a lot of young weapons on their offense, so getting him the protection he needed was paramount heading into Year 2 with Lock under center.

The biggest Bronco of them all, Pro Bowler Von Miller, had the coronavirus during the offseason, and it really affected him. He battled to get back to 100 percent, but as the team heads to training camp, he is going to be ready to go for the 2020 NFL season.

Overall, the 2020 NFL season is like nothing we have ever seen in our lifetime, and it will be interesting to see if the league can get a full year in. The Chiefs and Broncos definitely had the bigger name players opt out for the season, but as time wears on, there is sure to be positive tests that affect teams from week to week.
