Clelin Ferrell
With Josh Allen still on the board during the 2019 NFL Draft, the Raiders shocked the media world, instead choosing to select Clelin Ferrell out of Clemson. While he was not expected to go before Allen, it is not like Ferrell was some kind of scrub, as he was an All-American for the Tigers, and helped them to two national titles.
During his rookie season, Ferrell was given his fair share of obstacles, as he was moved inside at times, and then lost some weight due to getting sick. Still, he finished his first season in the NFL playing his best football, giving the Raiders a glimpse of the player he could end up being.
While fellow rookie Maxx Crosby stole the headlines, racking up ten sacks as a fourth round pick, Ferrell improved as the season went on. He is being overlooked already at this point, as he was a No. 4 overall pick, but all that will change this season.
In fact, it is my belief that Ferrell will not only improve during the 2020 NFL season, but he will play like a top-5 pick, shedding any conversations of him being a bust. He’s bigger, has a chip on his shoulder, and could be a six-plus sack guy in Year 2.
