2020 Las Vegas Raiders over/under: Trayvon Mullen 6 interceptions
Conclusion and Prediction
It takes a confluence of several factors for teams and players to record turnovers. A mix of skill, talent, situation, and even luck is required for a turnover to occur and in the case of the Raiders in 2019, they were not all that lucky.
From memory alone there were at least two or three instances where the Raiders had an interception overturned by a poor refereeing decision, including the Mullen pick against the Chiefs.
So if Mullen is to hit the over on the six interceptions, he will need that mix along with a big dash of luck. He may have an excellent season, and even record 3-5 interceptions, which would be excellent for a second-year cornerback while still falling short of this lofty goal. More important than an interception total are the advanced stats of passer rating against, completion percentage against, and touchdowns against in which Mullen was good but not great in his rookie season.
The bigger goal for the Raiders should be increasing the team’s overall turnover totals rather than just one player’s but with the way he finished out the 2019 season, we can certainly expect Trayvon Mullen to contribute his fair share in 2020.
