Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver group deep, talented and explosive
Returning Group of Wideouts
While it is true that some of the new faces at the position group have gotten a lot of love this week, the Raiders are returning some standout players from the 2019 squad that will be key parts of the offense in 2020. The added talent means that guys like Hunter Renfrow and Tyrell Williams may see their roles diminished a bit, but it does not mean that Gruden does not have big plans for them as well.
Early last season, Williams looked all the bit the part of a WR1, as he filled in admirably for Antonio Brown, who never actually played a down in the Silver and Black after being the key free agency acquisition. Williams was a touchdown machine early on, but battled with foot issues for most of the season, and that really hindered his production.
Still, this is a guy who is known for making the big plays, and you can be sure he is going to have his fair share of opportunities to do just that in 2020. Zay Jones also returns, but is on the bubble, despite getting a ton of work in with Derek Carr this summer.
In Renfrow, Carr found a wide receiver he could trust, especially on third down, and he showed he can play at the NFL level. He is going to have a lot more talent around him this season, which could hurt his snap counts, but once a player earns Carr’s trust, he is going to go back to the well time and time again.
