Raiders move forward with 6 wide receivers
Most NFL teams roll with five wide receivers on their roster, but the Raiders could choose to move forward with six considering the talent they suddenly have on the team. The three starters are already in place with Tyrell Williams, Hunter Renfrow, and Henry Ruggs III all holding those spots down, but behind them, it gets a bit crowded.
The second unit will feature rookie Bryan Edwards, and normally would be one of either Zay Jones or Nelson Agholor. The Raiders may decide to keep both Jones and Agholor on the 53-man squad because both players have shown they can be starting caliber receivers in the right situation.
Jones can provide a veteran backup on either outside receiver positions and Agholor can fill in easily in the slot given his experience there with the Eagles.
Agholor has a long-term connection with Jon Gruden, which may play in his favor and Jones as ingratiated himself with Carr through the unofficial offseason workouts, so that may be the difference for him. Either way, the Raiders have quickly gone from one of the thinner receiver groups in the league to possibly one of the deepest, and that may lead to some difficult decisions for the final roster.
