Raiders add veteran pass rusher
The Raiders have already done this in a recent move for former first round pick Datone Jones, but he may just be a camp body as they look to try out different defensive ends to fill out the group. Jones is an interesting case, as he did not play in the regular season last year after being cut by the Jaguars, and is not what you would consider a pass rusher by any means.
So if the Raiders are looking to improve their pass rush directly there are a number of veteran players out there who can still make a difference on the edge. Jadeveon Clowney is the obvious choice, but that would likely require a considerable investment that the Raiders may not be willing to make right now.
Other options are available on the market, and likely for much cheaper than Clowney, and the Raiders could look to one of them as camp progresses. Jabaal Sheard, Ziggy Ansah, and even Cameron Wake are still out there and could provide some situational pass rushing help if the team doesn’t think Arden Key is up to the task.
This is a position group that has improved the last two years, but the Raiders may not be done adding as we inch closer to the regular season.
