Las Vegas Raiders: 3 offensive veterans on the bubble in 2020

Zay Jones, Wide Receiver

Zay Jones came over to the Raiders during the 2019 NFL season, as the team was trying to piece together a position group that was ravaged by injuries. A former top pick of the Buffalo Bills, Jones is a gifted athlete, but has never really reached his full potential since the team drafted him with the 37th overall pick in 2017.

With Oakland, Jones appeared in ten games, making seven starts, and hauled in 20 catches on 27 targets. This offseason, he has been working out with Derek Carr prior to team workouts, building raport with the signal-caller, but it may not be enough for him to make the team’s Week 1 roster, especially if the Raiders go with five wide receivers.

Henry Ruggs III, Bryan Edwards, Hunter Renfrow, and Tyrell Williams are all locks to make the roster, and it is looking more and more like Nelson Agholor is a favorite of Jon Gruden. The team had planned to go into Week 1 last year with six wideouts, including Antonio Brown, so Jones could be safe, but if they go with five, he is likely the odd man out.
