Las Vegas Raiders: 3 offensive veterans on the bubble in 2020

Derek Carrier, Tight End

Derek Carrier was signed by the Raiders as a free agent prior to the 2018 NFL season, and he has had his moments in the Silver and Black. A solid blocker who also can make a few plays in the passing game, Carrier is the consummate professional, and is certainly talented enough to play in the NFL.

The problem in terms of him making the roster is the fact the team brought in Jason Witten this offseason, and they could choose to go with three tight ends in Week 1. That would make Carrier the odd man out, as Foster Moreau is healthy after a solid rookie campaign, and Darren Waller is regarded as one of the best tight ends in football.

Carrier has a special skill set that Gruden loves in his tight ends, so he is going to go down to the wire in terms of cuts this season. If the team goes with four tight ends, his spot is safe, as he will be able to beat out Nick Bowers, but Gruden kept only three last year, and may have to do so again in 2020.
