Not just a speed guy

The talk heading into the 2020 NFL Draft was that Ruggs was the fastest wide receiver in the draft class, and he showed his elite speed during the Combine. However, based on what we have seen from him since joining the franchise, he is much more than just a speed guy, and there are no limitations on what he can do on the football field.

Between seeing him run excellent routes, and his ability to go up and make the tough catches, he is going to be a problem for any defense the Raiders face in 2020. He also plays the game with a fearless style, not afraid to challenge defenders and let his incredible physical gifts create big play opportunities.

During his time at Alabama, Ruggs also showed his ability to find the end zone, as 24 of his 98 career catches went for a score. While teammate Jerry Jeudy was the overall favorite to be the first wideout selected, Ruggs was a guy the franchise had at the top of their board at the position group, and Gruden was ecstatic when they selected him at No. 12 overall.
