Las Vegas Raiders top pick Henry Ruggs III the complete package
Filling a huge need on offense
Tyrell Williams did a solid job filling in as the WR1 for the Raiders last season, especially considering he was thrown into the role when Antonio Brown was released on September 7. Williams showed he can make big plays, and find the end zone, and should be even more productive now that he is behind Ruggs on the depth chart.
Ruggs and Williams will be the starters on the outside, and Hunter Renfrow is expected to start in the slot. In addition, fellow rookie Bryan Edwards has been referred to as a “freak of nature” by teammates and media alike, so there is no shortage of talent when it comes to the wide receiver room this season.
That is going to be huge for quarterback Derek Carr, who is entering his most important season as a pro. Fans are already clamoring for the team to replace him with Marcus Mariota, and the focus will be on getting out to a fast start, and utilizing all the new weapons the franchise has brought in for him.
Based on the talent we have seen at wide receiver already in camp, this is a position group that has gone from a weakness to a strength this offseason. Having a player with Ruggs’ skill set at the top of the depth chart completely changes this offense in a positive way, and hopefully the Raiders take more shots downfield this season.
