3 free agents who can help the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020

Stephen Gostkowski, Kicker

Las Vegas Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson is entering his third year with the team, and is the only kicker on the roster at this point in time after releasing undrafted free agent Dominik Eberle as training camp began. Carlson, who had struggles last season from short yardage, could benefit from the veteran presence of Stephen Gostkowski, a clutch performer with a championship resume.

Since releasing the Raiders all-time scoring leader and former first round pick Sebastian Janikowski in 2018, the team has struggled to find a placekicker who could fill the void and become a consistent performer in crucial situations. Gostkowski  was released by the New England Patriots at the beginning of the offseason following a hip injury that limited him to four games in 2019.

If healthy, the 14-year veteran would be a cost efficient solid addition who could potentially compete for the starting role. After a shaky second season with the Raiders, the team would be wise to bring in someone to compete with Carlson, and Gostkowski would certainly come in and do just that.

The Raiders are likely to be playing meaningful games late in the 2020 season, and having a clutch kicker can be the difference more times than not. Gostkowski is one of the better big-game kickers of all-time, so why not bring him in and see what he has left.
