2020 Las Vegas Raiders over/under: Josh Jacobs 60 catches

Conclusion and Verdict

There are a number of factors that will influence Jacobs ability to catch 60 passes.  One of the biggest which was not yet discussed is health. Can Jacobs stay healthy for 16 games?  What if Jalen Richard should miss extended time with an injury?

These factors make it difficult to give an accurate projection, but all things considered after looking at both sides of the debate, if I was a betting man I would go with the under. 60 catches is a lot for a running back, but there are some three-down backs who get to that number easily like Christian McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers.

That being said, although I don’t believe he will reach 60 catches, I do anticipate his catch total will rise significantly.

According to Fantasypoints.com and their 2020 season projections, they have Jacobs pegged for 42 receptions for 360 yards and two receiving touchdowns. 42 receptions would be a 22 catch increase from a year ago and I think that is an accurate estimate of Jacobs catch total in 2020.

Jacobs is an incredibly talented running back, and he showed during his time at Alabama that he can certainly make his presence felt in the passing game. The problem is, the Raiders have more than enough guys that Carr can throw it to, and when it comes to Jacobs, he is going to be relied upon to get the tough yards, and open up the defense with his rare blend of speed, power, and elusiveness in the run game.
