Las Vegas Raiders add more Alabama talent in PFF 2021 mock draft
Raiders add a dominant defensive tackle in PFF mock
Michael Renner of Pro Football Focus recently posted his latest 2021 NFL Mock Draft, and like most mocks, he has the Raiders picking in the top-10. That would mean that the season was a big bust considering all the moves the team made this offseason, but with the No. 8 overall pick, the team once again takes a talented player from one of the best programs in the country.
Renner likes the Raiders to add Crimson Tide defensive tackle Christian Barmore with that eighth overall selection, bringing him into a group that should be much-improved in 2020. P.J. Hall was released early in camp, and Maliek Collins should be a huge free agent upgrade, so the need for a defensive tackle is No. 1 on my priority list.
Still, Barmore is an outstanding talent, and the current regime of Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden have been stacking elite talent from elite programs. Barmore fits that mold, and if there actually is a 2020 college football season, you can expect him to be all over the place, as he is highly effective against both the run, and the pass.
Mayock has made it a point to upgrade up front on both sides of the football since taking over as general manager, so this pick does make sense. The hope is that Maurice Hurst has a breakout season, and they can re-sign Maliek Collins to an extension, leaving this pick to upgrade at linebacker.
