Raiders camp: 3 things to be excited about, 3 things to be worried about
Worry #3: COVID-19
While COVID-19 has not been too big of an issue for the Raiders roster, outside of Maxx Crosby and Rod Smith, it is something to continue to worry about. The 2020 offseason has been extremely strange, between the preseason slate being canceled, and all the testing, and it is going to make the coaches’ job even harder in terms of cuts.
Another area where this is a concern is the fact that some of the younger undrafted guys are not going to be able to put any tape together. Every year we see guys come out of nowhere to earn their spot on the roster, and that will certainly not be the case in 2020.
There is also the worry with clusters of the virus popping up, as we saw this past week with the false-positive scares across the league. If that happens as we get closer to Week 1, and the tests are in fact positive, that is going to throw a major wrench in the team’s plans in terms of preparation for Carolina.
Considering the world is in the middle of a pandemic, this training camp has been kind of quiet, as guys are coming in, getting the work done, and getting better every day. Last year, we were dealing with Antonio Brown’s helmet and feet, so even with the worries, this has been a nice breath of fresh air.
