Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson will be given the chance to bounce back in 2020
Carlson struggled mightily at times in 2019
After a blazing start to his Raiders career in 2018, Carlson came back to to Earth a bit in Year No. 2, missing seven field goals and two extra points.
In 2018, Carlson had his fair share of highs, including kicking the game-winning field goal against the Arizona Cardinals. His 94 % field goal accuracy was a team-record, and it appeared that the team had found their answer at the position to succeed the legendary Sebastian Janikowski.
In 2019, Carlson was not as good, as he missed a field goal in six of his last nine games, erasing a start that saw him miss only one field goal before the team’s Week 8 win against the Detroit Lions. His struggles were very worrisome, but despite that, the team decided to not bring any real competition for him this offseason.

The Raiders will likely be playing in some high-stakes games towards the end of the 2020 NFL season, so the team better get the 2018 version of Carlson, and not the one who struggled in the second half of 2019. If he can get back to the form he showed as a rookie, the Raiders are in good shape, because he is young, has a powerful leg, and has proven to be extremely accurate when he is on.
