National rankings continue to be low on Raiders QB Derek Carr
Yahoo Sports ranks Carr near the bottom of the NFL
In his recent power rankings of the top-32 quarterbacks in the NFL, Frank Schwab of Yahoo Sports ranked Carr near the bottom of the NFL. In fact, Schwab has Carr the 25th-best starting quarterback in the NFL, which is extremely low considering he has put together solid numbers since Jon Gruden arrived.
In terms of the position group, Carr was ranked below guys like Daniel Jones from the New York Giants, Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, and Baker Mayfield from Cleveland. In addition, he was ranked lower than Joe Burrow, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and has yet to take a snap at the NFL level.
While Carr has not done a ton of winning so far in his career, he is better than all but seven quarterbacks in the league. In fact, Carr is better than half of the starters in the NFL, and a solid 2020 campaign could put him even higher.
Carr has everything he needs to have a monster season in 2020, including continuity within the coaching staff, and added weapons on the outside. He has the arm talent to make every throw, and if he can get back to making some plays happen with his feet, there is no reason why he cannot shoot up these kind of rankings before all is said and done.
