The Las Vegas Raiders are expecting to make the playoffs in their first season in the desert, and here are five keys to success in 2020.

After a seven-win season in 2019, a year that includes many ups and downs, the now-Las Vegas Raiders will be looking to make it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016, and only the second time since 2002. For the Raiders, they will have to overcome a tough early-season schedule that will see them face three elite quarterbacks in their first six games, including Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, and Drew Brees.

However, they have done a great job building up this roster since Mike Mayock took over as a general manager, and look to have the pieces in place to make a run. While the seven wins last season was a three-win improvement, it was seen as a lost season, as the team lost five of six to close out the year, a span that includes quarterback Derek Carr being booed out of the stadium.

2020 has the opportunity to be very different for Carr, and the Raiders, who have had a solid and productive training camp. They are young, but have some solid veterans on the team as well, including a few who were brought in this offseason to help change the direction of the team’s defense, which has been atrocious in recent seasons.

In this piece, we look at the five keys for Raiders success in 2020, and we start with the team’s brand new linebacker group.
