Predicting the short-term and long-term impact of Raiders rookie class

Round 3, Pick No. 100: Clemson LB/S Tanner Muse

The Raiders made another surprising pick with their third of three third round picks, selecting Clemson hybrid defensive player, Tanner Muse. During his time at Clemson, Muse was used all over the field, and will serve as a depth piece at linebacker likely during his rookie season.

In addition, I could see Muse being a solid special teams player in Year 1, as he plays with reckless abandon, and does not take plays off. He has a nice skill set being that he played in the secondary, and at linebacker at Clemson, though he figures to stay at linebacker at the NFL level.

Mike Mayock loves his Clemson players, and Muse is starting to get his footing during his first NFL camp. He could find himself in the starting lineup if injuries happen, but I see him being more of a role player as a rookie before fighting for a starting spot in Year 2.

  • Short-Term: Reserve linebacker as a rookie, as well as a special teams leader
  • Long-Term: Hopefully rounds into the starting Sam, as well as solid depth at linebacker moving forward
