The Las Vegas Raiders will need to announce their 53-man roster on Saturday and there may be some surprise players on the chopping block

Cutdown day is looming on September 5th and the Las Vegas Raiders and the rest of the NFL will need to trim their bloated training camp rosters to the 53-man rosters ahead of Week 1. The Raiders have already made some moves this week in the form of cutting Prince Amukamara, placing Tyrell Williams on injured reserve, and shipping Brandon Parker off to Washington for a sixth round pick but they still face some difficult decisions on cut down day.

The primary questions that the Raiders must answer is if they will be placing their faith in youth at different positions or leaning on some veterans brought in through free agency. They will also need to address whether the players at the back end of the depth chart will be able to contribute on special teams or if they will only be able to contribute at their listed positions.

Due to the special roster rules due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there may be a different approach taken to both the active roster and practice squad so that leaves even more room for surprise decisions on cutdown day.

With this in mind we take a look at three players who are possible surprise cut candidates for the Las Vegas Raiders.
