5 observations from ESPN’s final 53-man Raiders roster projection

Brandon Parker survives roster cutdown

Since being drafted by the then-Oakland Raiders in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Brandon Parker has had his fair share of opportunities to show he belongs. As a rookie, Parker was thrust into the starting lineup, starting 12 of his 15 appearances, and really looked overmatched.

Last season, Parker appeared in 11 games, making three starts, and continued to struggle in pass protection. Luckily for the Raiders, they have two bookend offensive tackles in Kolton Miller and Trent Brown, so they can afford to keep Parker around and hope that he develops into a solid depth guy off the bench.

This past week, the team traded away David Sharpe to the Washington Football Team, getting back a draft pick. That made Parkers’ chances of making the roster that much better, and as we inch closer to Week 1, I could see him remaining with the team for one more go-around as well.
