5 Las Vegas Raiders who should not have made the 2020 53-man roster

Devontae Booker

As a native of Sacramento, California, this writer has always admired Devontae Booker ever since he amassed over 4700 yards rushing and 81 touchdowns in two seasons at Sac Town powerhouse Grant High School. Booker went on to have a very good college career at Utah before being drafted to play for the Denver Broncos.

Unfortunately for him, he has seen his rushing production take a hit year after year in the NFL and only ran the rock two times for nine yards in 2019. This summer, he was in a fearce competition battle at the running back position with guys like Rod Smith, Theo Riddick, and Lynn Bowden Jr. among others, and somehow came out on top.

Booker’s responsibility to back up Jacobs in the event that the young star tailback gets hurt just can’t provide much optimism. When you factor in how the Raiders cut veteran back Theo Riddick and traded away Lynn Bowden before he ever got a crack at learning the running back position, there was a more proven option and an option with more upside to be the 3rd back for this team.
