3 players who should have made the Las Vegas Raiders 53-man roster

Kyle Wilber – LB

The move to release Kyle Wilber made sense initially when young linebacker Tanner Muse was still on the active roster, however, the team has placed the rookie on injured reserve and are suddenly looking thin on special teams. The linebacker group is considerably better than it was last year thanks to the additions of Nick Kwiatkoski and Cory Littleton, but ideally they should avoid some of the wear and tear of special teams.

Wilber has been with the Raiders for two years and has been almost exclusively a special teams player, following former Cowboys special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia from Dallas. It was projected that Muse or even undrafted rookie Javin White would step in to Wilber’s role, but one is on the practice squad, and the other is now on IR.

Perhaps the Raiders decided that they would go younger at the position than the 30-year-old and chose to keep former CFL standout Kendal Vickers, a defensive end on the roster instead. Vickers was a surprise addition to the roster considering some of the bigger names who were released but if he can step in to the role Wilber occupied then it may end up being the right move.
