Las Vegas Raiders fantasy outlook: 2020 Week 1 Sit ‘Em or Start ‘Em

Wide Receivers

Henry Ruggs – Start Em

Henry Ruggs III has been penciled in as a starter since he was taken in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draf,t and claimed that spot for good in training camp. It’s a shame that we did not get to see what he’s capable of in preseason, but we should expect a healthy dose of Ruggs in Week 1, especially in manufactured touches like end arounds and bubble screens.

Ruggs’ fantasy outlook this year may be boom or bust based on the type of player many think he is, but in Gruden’s West Coast offense he should get plenty of targets and chances to make plays after catch. We can expect a big day from him in Carolina.

Bryan Edwards – Sit Em

The hype train for Bryan Edwards was full steam ahead in training camp and it reached full speed when the Raiders put Tyrell Williams on injured reserve and made Edwards a starter. There is much to be excited about when it comes to Edwards’ measurables, but we need to know more about what his snap counts and targets will be before we can commit to starting him regularly.

Edwards may also be listed as a starter, but we could see Nelson Agholor and Zay Jones rotated in regularly to his spot as the veteran receivers on the roster. Edwards is definitely worth owning but let’s take a wait and see approach here.

Hunter Renfrow – Start Em

Hunter Renfrow suddenly became the wide receiver on the roster with the most experience working with Derek Carr after Tyrell Williams went down. He was the 55th ranked fantasy receiver in 2019 but like Jacobs, also missed three games his rookie season.

Renfrow did most of his damage at the end of the season and posted career highs in targets, receptions, and yards in Week 16. We could see all season that he was developing a chemistry with Carr and after a summer of unofficial workouts and training camp we can expect that to increase even further.

He could see 100 targets this year as a possession receiver so is especially worth starting in PPR formats. Put “Third and Renfrow” in your starting lineup in the flex and expect solid returns all year.
