Las Vegas Raiders at Carolina Panthers: 5 bold predictions
Bold Prediction #4: Madd Maxx and Cle combine for 4 sacks
If the Raiders won more games last season, Maxx Crosby would’ve had a much more realistic chance to win Defensive Rookie of the Year. I personally feel like he got robbed because he had close to identical numbers to Nick Bosa, but with less help. On Sunday he opens up his 2020 campaign with a huge day, and his fellow 2019 draft pick follows suit as well.
Clelin Ferrell obviously struggled a bit in his rookie year, but with an illness and having to move all around the line last season, it was a tough year of adjustment for him, and Ferrell committed to working hard this offseason and looks like a completely different player. He’s looked more explosive during this training camp, and the addition of Rod Marinelli will do wonders for him and Crosby.
Bold Prediction #5: Raiders win by two touchdowns
I should lower this prediction to 10 + points since the largest margin of victory for the Raiders was eight points last season, but these are bold predictions after all, and that changes this year. With the improved offensive weapons, a top-3 offensive line in the league, and at least average defense, the Raiders should roll on Sunday.
Remember, the Panthers have a rookie head coach with a brand new quarterback, and the lack of a preseason will certainly play to the Raiders advantage in this one. Experience is key at the NFL level, and Gruden will make enough in-game adjustments to come away with a solid two-touchdown victory on the road.
