Josh Jacobs leads Las Vegas Raiders to win No. 1 of the 2020 season

Three Stars

1. Josh Jacobs, RB, Las Vegas

No big surprise here, as the Raiders were led by second-year star running back Josh Jacobs in this one. The sophomore got the party started early with the team’s first touchdown as the Las Vegas Raiders, and finished the game with three touchdowns.

Jacobs finished the game with 25 carries and 93 yards on the ground, finding the end zone three times. He also played a big part in the passing game, hauling in four passes for nearly 50 yards. He got the tough yards on Sunday, and showed why he should have won the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2019.

2. Johnathan Abram, S, Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Raiders are expecting a big season from second-year safety Johnathan Abram, and they got a nice glimpse at what could be on Sunday. Abram led the Raiders with 13 tackles, including nine solo, while also posting one tackle for a loss.

Outside of the box score, Abram was all over the field, and came up and made some of his signature monster hits throughout the contest. This is a kid who is going to be a special player in the Silver and Black, and he led this defense on Sunday.

3. Christian McCaffrey, RB, Carolina Panthers

The Raiders were actually able to bottle up Christian McCaffrey early in the game, although they were not so lucky after halftime. McCaffrey was able to find room in the run game, and through the air, and finished the game with 96 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

While McCaffrey got his late via the rushing game, Las Vegas actually did a great job against him in the passing game, limiting him to three receptions. He went for over 1,000 yards through the air last season, so the defense actually did a nice job containing him in that regard.
