AFC West Roundup Week 1: Raiders earn first win of the Las Vegas Era

Kansas City Chiefs

No Super Bowl hangover for these Kansas City Chiefs, as they handled the Houston Texans 34-20 in the season opener. Were it not for a few garbage-time touchdowns led by Deshaun Watson, that final score would look much less easy on the eyes, as Kansas City looked like the utterly superior team.

The Chiefs may very well boast the best offense in the NFL, with Patrick Mahomes (211 passing yards, three touchdowns) spreading the ball around to veteran targets Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, and Sammy Watkins with one receiving touchdown apiece.

But the real story came in the arrival of Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the Chiefs’ first-round rookie running back out of LSU. With 25 carries for 138 yards and a rushing touchdown, Kansas City clearly has their Kareem Hunt replacement, making them even more of a threat in the AFC West.
