AFC West Roundup Week 1: Raiders earn first win of the Las Vegas Era

Denver Broncos

The final matchup of Monday Night Football was a close affair for much of the game, with both the Titans and Broncos locked at a touchdown apiece. Echoing their last matchup in 2019, Derrick Henry was not able to get the ground game running for the majority of the first half, while the Titans defense was able to keep Drew Lock and the Broncos from capitalizing on the opportunity.

The real story of the game was Stephen Gostowski’s rough outing Monday night, having missed four kicks total (including one PAT). But after a Melvin Gordon touchdown gave the Broncos a 14-13 lead in the fourth quarter, Gostowksi finally came through when it was needed most.

A 25-yard field goal with 17 seconds left in the fourth quarter put Tennessee back on top 16-14 and proved to seal the game for the Titans. Drew Lock (22-for-33, 216 yards, one touchdown) was solid in the start, but he’s unable to pick up the win as the Broncos are the only winless team in the AFC West through Week 1.
