Las Vegas Raiders fantasy outlook: Week 2 Start ‘Em or Sit ‘Em

Wide Receivers

Henry Ruggs – Start ‘Em

Henry Ruggs had a solid debut game with three receptions for 55 yards and two rushes for 11 yards, all of which came in the first half. He battled through a lower leg injury and was not much of a factor after the injury despite staying in the game.

The encouraging thing about Week 1 was that it was clear early that Gruden will manufacture touches for Ruggs and will give him opportunities for him to make plays in space. Carr’s early deep shot was just out of Ruggs’ reach but if they connect on one of those it will likely result in a touchdown.

Start Ruggs with confidence this week pending his health, so wait for the injury report and if he is a full participant we can expect him to have a solid game against the Saints.

Bryan Edwards – Sit ‘Em

Bryan Edwards was on the field for the Raiders for 47 snaps, but was targeted just once and recorded one reception for nine yards. He is still a starter on this team but is more of a deep stash as he gets comfortable with Derek Carr and the offense.

Hunter Renfrow – Sit ‘Em

Hunter Renfrow, like all Raiders receivers not named Henry Ruggs, did not have a very good fantasy day. The slot receiver was on the field for just 48% of the Raiders’ snaps on offense and was targeted twice.

He hauled in both of those targets and both were for first downs, helping reinforce that “Third and Renfrow” nickname he earned for keeping drives alive. He was targeted on the game winning drive and had he come up with the catch rather than drawing a PI his numbers may have been a bit better, but still nothing to get too excited about.

Bucs slot receiver Scott Miller had a good day against the Saints with 5 catches and 73 yards, but he did most of his damage when the game was out of reach. That may be the case as the Raiders face a tough Saints team so start Renfrow in the FLEX position unless you have better options. Otherwise you can keep him on the bench for a little longer until the offense opens up.

Nelson Agholor – Sit ‘Em

Nelson Agholor jumps on the radar because of his touchdown reception from a great throw by Carr, but it was his only target of the game so no reason to get too excited. He was on the field for just 12 snaps so unless his role grows you can keep watching him from afar on the waiver wire.
