New Orleans Saints at Las Vegas Raiders: 3 bold predictions in Week 2
It’s primetime, it’s Monday Night Football, and it’s the debut of Allegiant Stadium. Here are three bold predictions for the matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints.
The Las Vegas Raiders last made the playoffs back in the 2016 season, and we all remember the start of the postseason run. Week 1 on the road in New Orleans, the Raiders win a thriller, 35-34, over the Saints, with a successful two-point conversion from Derek Carr to Michael Crabtree proving to be the dagger. It was the first glimpse at a Raiders offense clicking on all cylinders.
Could we be in for a sequel version come Monday Night on ESPN?
Las Vegas faces off against New Orleans with both teams coming off season-opening wins, and the matchup on ESPN will be the debut of Allegiant Stadium. It will be Derek Carr versus Drew Brees once again, only this time Carr has plenty of new weapons at his disposal, coming off a 34-30 win against Carolina last week.
New Orleans heads into Allegiant Stadium as the heavy favorites (81% per ESPN consensus), but they’ll look to reach 2-0 on the season without All-Pro receiver Michael Thomas. His absence would be a significant advantage for the Raiders, and it’ll require both the offense and defense executing their gameplans in order to open Allegiant Stadium with a victory.
