AFC West Week 2: Raiders shine in Las Vegas debut, move to 2-0
Las Vegas Raiders
ESPN consensus had New Orleans as the heavy favorites, the countdown crew predominantly chose the Saints to win, but it was the Las Vegas Raiders, debuting the new Allegiant Stadium, that would emerge victorious on Monday Night Football. A 34-24 victory where the defense came through when needed and the offense began to click on all cylinders.
Leading the way on offense was Darren Waller with 12 receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown, proving that as a matchup nightmare for defenses he is well deserved to be in the conversation for best tight end in the NFL. And who orchestrated the offense? Derek Carr, with a stat line of 282 passing yards and three touchdowns, with a 120.7 passer rating.
In the debut of Allegiant Stadium, Derek Carr thoroughougly outplayed Drew Brees in primetime. Just two weeks into the season and Las Vegas is 2-0, and with an offense that will only get better as the weeks go on, the AFC has another threat to worry about coming out of the AFC West.
