Raiders Derek Carr inching closer to Ken Stabler’s touchdown record

Raiders Derek Carr inching closer to Ken Stabler’s touchdown record

Carr’s Franchise Records

Derek Carr is the most prolific quarterback in the history of the Raiders franchise, which is not a controversial statement as the numbers prove it. He is not the greatest, a title you can’t quite measure with numbers alone, but he has the pure statistics that put him at the top of the leaderboard in just about every category in franchise history.

Carr currently has the most passing yards in franchise history with 23,314 as of Monday, about 4,000 more than Stabler in 30 fewer games. That is a testament to the changes in the style of the play around the league but also a testament to Carr’s ability to put up numbers when he needs to.

The former Fresno State star is also the franchise leader in completions with 2,170, about 600 more than Rich Gannon in 22 more games. He blew past both Gannon and Stabler at some point in just his fifth season with the team in 2018.

Carr is also currently tied with Gannon in passer rating at 91.2 but that could of course fluctuate one way or the other after a few weeks.

These records all paint a picture of Carr as a prolific passer that due to a combination of injuries, poor coaching decision, and his own failures has put up spectacular numbers but has failed to translate that in to winning consistently. However this article isn’t meant to be a referendum on whether or not Carr is the answer for the Raiders at QB, it’s just focused on the facts.

Now that we’ve gotten all his other records out of the way, let’s talk about that touchdown record.
