Raiders Derek Carr inching closer to Ken Stabler’s touchdown record
Raiders Derek Carr inching closer to Ken Stabler’s touchdown record
Derek Carr within touching distance of Ken Stabler
As it currently stands, Derek Carr is just three touchdown passes short of Ken Stabler’s franchise record of 150. Carr is actually third right now in franchise history with 147 as Daryle “Mad Bomber” Lamonica racked up 148 in his eight years with the Raiders.
Carr is on pace for 32 touchdowns in 2020 so he should blow past both of these legends by the end of the season.
So how did Derek Carr get here? How did he get to be on the cusp of becoming the Raiders’ all-time leader in every relevant statistical category? Let’s take a look at the numbers.
Carr’s first touchdown came in his first career game against the New York Jets and it was to third year receiver Rod Streater. He also threw his second touchdown in that same game to veteran receiver James Jones.
His 50th touchdown was to Amari Cooper in 2015 against the Green Bay Packers and his 100th came against the Dallas Cowboys in 2017. His latest one, number 148, was to Darren Waller and we will have to wait and see who catches number 150, but my money is on Hunter Renfrow.
We will take a deeper dive on the totals and who he threw all those touchdowns to when Carr breaks Ken Stabler’s record but for now, let’s just appreciate the fact that we have a quarterback who can put his team in a position to win and loves being a Raider.
