Las Vegas Raiders dominated by New England Patriots in Week 3

There was not much to like about the Raiders play on Sunday, as the Patriots took control of the game in the second half and came away with a convincing victory. While we would like to name a few Raiders as the three stars of the game, that would not make much sense, so outside of one defensive player who had a solid game, this is mostly Patriots.

Rex Burkhead, RB, New England

The Patriots were without James White in this one, as he is still away from the team after his father was killed in a car accident last weekend. In his place, veteran Rex Burkhead stepped up in a big way, playing a huge role in both the run and pass game, while finding the end zone three times.

While Sony Michel led the team in rushing, Burkhead scored twice on the ground, and also led the Patriots with seven catches for 49 yards and a touchdown. It was a complete effort by Burkhead, who the Raiders had no answer for all game long.

New England Patriots Defense

The Patriots defense stepped up in a big way on Sunday, and outside of the Raiders touchdown late in the first half, they really had no issues with the Raiders offense. Las Vegas came into the game as one of the more high-powered offenses in the league, but it was clear that Bill Belichick had a solid game plan for the Silver and Black in this one.

Maxx Crosby, DE, Las Vegas

After going the first two weeks without notching a sack, Maxx Crosby finally was able to get after the quarterback on Sunday. Crosby had been close in the team’s victories in Week 1 and Week 2, and was actually held on a few occasions, but he made his mark on this game with two sacks of Cam Newton.
