AFC West 2020 Week 4 predictions: Raiders try to keep pace with Chiefs

New England Patriots (2-1) at Kansas City Chiefs (3-0)

It’s a shame that this is not one of the primetime games in Week 4 because this matchup is intriguing in a number of ways. This game is a clash of styles as it pits the wide open Kansas City Chiefs offense against the ball control ground attack of the New England Patriots.

Patrick Mahomes looked at his best as he accounted for five touchdowns against the Ravens on Monday Night Football, and Cam Newton has been reinvigorated as a Patriot. Bill Belichick and the Patriots have completely reinvented themselves with Newton at quarterback and they are still talented on the defensive side of the ball.

The Chiefs on the other hand have picked up right where they left off after their Super Bowl and are already generating buzz about possibly going undefeated. The last time they faced the Patriots however was a close contest in 2019 and they were limited to “just” 23 points which was 5 points less than their season average.

In 2020 the Patriots defense does not look as dominant as last year’s unit but the Chiefs offense may be even better. Belichick and co. can scheme it up better than anyone in history and will limit Kansas City’s chances but the Chiefs talent will win out and they will pull away late.

They have control of the AFC West and put two hands on that division title as they move to 4-0 with two division games in the next four weeks.

Prediction: Chiefs win 30-20
