Las Vegas Raiders defense not getting any bang for their buck
New Faces in 2020
This offseason, the Raiders put even more emphasis on their defense via free agency, bringing in some big-name free agents to change the look on that side of the ball. Players like Cory Littleton and Maliek Collins were supposed to be building blocks for this defense for years to come, but they have underachieved through their first four games.
In addition, Jeff Heath was brought in to bolster the secondary, and Carl Nassib was supposed to help create more pass rush, but that has not happened. Prince Amukamara and Damarious Randall did not even make the team, and Daniel Ross is currently hurt. Overall, this class has not yielded many results.
Nick Kwiatkoski has played well, but he has already missed time due to a pec injury. He showed in Week 4 that he is needed if the Raiders want to be able to stop the run game, and hopefully he can play through his injuries.
Overall, this has been an underwhelming two years in terms of the free agent classes on defense, but the hope is that they can turn things around. Joyner, Littleton, and Collins are needed if the Raiders are going to take a step in the right direction on that side of the ball, but unfortunately, they have no played up to their ability yet.
