Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs: 3 Players to watch in Week 5

Josh Jacobs, Running Back

Josh Jacobs is always a player to watch on a week-to-week basis, although the context here might be slightly different. The Raiders are 2-0 this season when Jacobs has rushed 25 times or more, but during the current two game losing streak, Jacobs has only carried the ball 16 and 15 times, respectively.

For the Raiders to have any chance of winning vs the Chiefs, they have to feed the “bell cow” here in Jacobs early and often. It is true, Jacobs has not looked as dazzling as last season with an average of only 3.6 yards per carry compared to 4.8 last season, but it is not like teams aren’t stacking the box against the Raiders.

This is also due to a banged up offensive line, as two of the Raiders starters are out, and they have been putting together a makeshift line the past few weeks. Sure, Derek Carr and the passing game will play a huge part in a win or loss scenario, but the statistics show the more you feed Jacobs, the better chance you have of winning.

Hopefully the game-plan is to feed Jacobs the rock more come Sunday. He is a major key to any chance of victory.
