Ahead of the Las Vegas Raiders matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, we sat down with Arrowhead Addict site expert Matt Conner.

Coming off two straight losses, the Las Vegas Raiders head to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs in their AFC West opener. These are two teams that are trending in separate directions, and the Silver and Black come into this game a bit banged up, making them a heavy underdog.

Ahead of the crucial AFC West matchup, we sat down with Matt Conner, site expert at Arrowhead Addict to discuss Sunday’s game.

What should the Chiefs game plan be for Josh Jacobs on Sunday?

Josh Jacobs is going to get his on Sunday. No way around it. Jacobs averaged seven yards per carry against the Chiefs in his rookie season (29 carries for 203 yards!), and the Chiefs front line is currently 27th in rushing defense DVOA.

It doesn’t help that the Chiefs have suffered some losses in the first four games along the defensive interior (Chris Jones has a groin injury, Khalen Saunders remains out with an elbow injury). It helped to have Mike Pennel back from suspension two games ago, but the ranks are thinner here and the linebackers can’t tackle.

The Chiefs have to shore up their poor angles here. Interestingly enough, linebackers are also easily burned in coverage but Jacobs never had a single target against the Chiefs.

What is the Chiefs fan base view of Derek Carr?

Not serious at all. Even with the improved stats this year, Chiefs Kingdom mostly looks at Derek Carr as a non-threatening leader with a weak arm who falls apart against decent competition. The numbers this year are telling an impressive story and a win at Arrowhead would go a long way to changing that narrative, of course.
